Ministry Distinctives

Th.M. with Emphasis on Pastoral Theology and Practice.

Definition/Description for my focus, or concentration/tract

The Pastoral Theology and Practice emphasis is designed to equip students for the multiple challenges of pastoral ministry in the local church. It provides students with pastoral theology and broad exposure to diverse pastoral skills.

Overall Reflection Statement for Servant Leadership

For my competence in Pastoral Theology & Practice, I am submitting 4 sermons from my Pastoral Ministries Classes, a Philosophy of Worship Paper from PM 302, the evaluation results from my internship Field Evaluators, which demonstrate my ability to communicate God’s Word effectively, my approach towards worship in the local Church, an honest evaluation of me by others.

Artifacts With Descriptions

  • A series of sermons from my PM classes and a written sermon.
  • My Philosophy of Worship Paper from PM 302.
  • Evaluation results from my internship Field Evaluators.
  • I have 12 years of Pastoral Ministry at Buea Community Church in Cameroon, a Church I planted in November 2004. During that time, I had the opportunity to plan and conduct weddings, baptisms, Lord’s Table, funerals and all associated Pastoral duties. See my Resume.
  • I have been involved in Training Pastors for Ministry in Cameroon for nearly 15 years from 2002-2015. See my Resume.

Learning Reflection

As I developed and demonstrated Pastoral Theology & Practice, I have learned that the essentials of an effective pastor are love for God and love for people. I learned that this love is first demonstrated at my home. I learned that if fail to pastor my family, I will fail at pastoring the Church of God. I learned that a Pastor’s job is not to perform to impress and be applauded but to serve with humility and the fear of God. I learned that a good pastor cares for people.

Lifelong Development Statement

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in Pastoral Theology & Practice by seeking to grow in my love for people. In order to be an effective pastor, I need to continue to grow in my ability to connect with people and begin conversations. I need to grow in my ability to offer proper spiritual help to those who ask for help. In that regard, I need to grow in my knowledge of the Word of God through persistent study and application. I need to continue to learn and grow in my sermon delivery and communication skills.
