Overall Reflection Statement for Servant Leadership

For my competence in servant leadership, I am submitting a report of my visit to Hutchins State Prison in Dallas, a video of me sharing God’s Word at Men of Nehemiah in South Dallas, evidence of me serving my family and community members at Mizpah Baptist Church in Babanki, Cameroon over the summer, which demonstrates laying down my life for others in service as I share the gospel with them. I served breakfast on some days at the Men of Nehemiah and at Hutchins State Prison, I sat down and ate with inmates, making myself vulnerable but also open and even willing to associate with Prisoners.

Artifacts With Descriptions

1. Here is a visit to Hutchins State Prison and how I served the inmates there.

2. In this video, I am sharing the Word of God at Men of Nehemiah, a Homeless Shelter Ministry here in Dallas.

3. Here is a Transcript of how I served Aaron, one of over 400 people I served personally through Need Him Global Ministry.

4. I visited Cameroon during the Summer of 2019 and had the privilege to serve my family, Mizpah Baptist Church, and the community there.

5. This is my visit to Buea Community Church (BCC) in Cameroon during the Summer. BCC is the Church I planted and pastored for 12 years before moving to Dallas to study at DTS.

Learning Reflection

As I developed and demonstrated servant leadership, I have learned that service is a very powerful thing that can break even the hardest of hearts. People may not take us serious when we just preach the Word of God to them but when we serve, they almost have nothing else to say or any rejection to make. By serving, I demonstrate the fact that I am will to do what I am asking others to do. When I serve, I bring Jesus’ heart to the people and Jesus is the greatest Servant who ever lived and will ever live. Serving opens doors for evangelism but in service, l must openly share the gospel.

Lifelong Development Statement

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in servant leadership by being a better servant to my family. Ministry demands can take hold of me and before I know it, I am investing more time serving people out of my home than I am investing in serving people at my home – my wife and children. As I grow in servant leadership, I must balance ministries to my home and ministries out of home since my home is my first Church! In servant leadership, I must teach myself to understand that my job is not to accomplish people’s expectations of me but to do my best to be an example of a true servant according to the Word of God. I must realize that I will never be perfect and therefore will never be able to fulfill people’s expectations of me.
